‘Sing 2’ is now available to rent while it’s still in theaters — you can watch the animated musical at home with your family for $25

Sing 2,” the sequel to the popular 2016 animated movie, is already available to rent at home. The movie’s


release comes less than three weeks after it theaters on December 22. 

Made by the same studio that brought us “Despicable Me” and “Minions,” the family film features a star-studded cast, catchy soundtrack, and the same characters fans have grown to love from the first movie.  

Following the events of “Sing,” our furry characters are back to perform their biggest show ever — but they’ll need to convince a retired and reclusive rock star, voiced by U2’s Bono, to join them. Returning for the sequel, the movie stars Matthew McConaughey as Buster the koala, Reese Witherspoon as Rosita the pig, Scarlett Johansson as Ash the porcupine, Taron Egerton as Johnny the gorilla, Tori Kelly as Meena the elephant, and Nick Kroll as Gunter the pig. 

“Sing 2” received solid reviews from critics and currently has a “70% Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes, a review aggregation website. The first movie got a similar reaction, and holds a “71% Fresh” rating.

Where to watch ‘Sing 2’

“Sing 2” is now available to watch at home from services like Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Vudu, Microsoft Movies, and YouTube. It costs $25 to rent the movie. Most services give you 30 days to start watching a rental, and then 48 hours to finish it after you hit play. 

Though we don’t know when the movie will be available for digital purchase just yet, this rental release is a great opportunity to watch the flick with your kids from the comfort of your home while it’s still playing in theaters. It’s a bit pricey at $25, but depending on the cost of a movie ticket in your area, that’s likely still cheaper than taking your family to a theater.

Once you’ve rented “Sing 2,” you’ll be able to watch it from compatible apps on most smart TVs, smartphones, gaming consoles, and internet browsers. Check the retailer you choose to ensure your device is supported by its app.

Where to Watch the first ‘Sing’ movie

If you haven’t caught it yet, “Sing” is available to purchase or rent from several retailers, including Amazon Prime Video, Vudu, YouTube, and Apple TV. Rentals start at $4 and it costs $15 to buy.

The movie is also available on-demand with FXNow and Spectrum subscriptions.
